Hi Darlings,

It’s easy to believe all the beauty, health & skincare myths that flood our lives daily. Below are some skincare myths I’ve uncovered over my years of experience in the beauty industry:

MYTH: The sun’s UV rays are not as strong in the winter as they are in the summer months

FALSE: UVA rays are essentially the same strength all year round. UVA rays are the type of rays that cause skin aging and skin cancer. It’s an absolute must to use products that contain sunscreen no matter the season!

MYTH: If a product doesn’t work right away, it’s not for you

FALSE: Everyone wants to see results instantly, but it’s important to stay with a regimen for a long enough time to see what products works best with your skin. Try out a product for at least a few weeks before buying into the next fad skincare products.

MYTH: Sleeping on the same side of the pillow can cause wrinkles

TRUE: Consistently sleeping on one side of your pillow can cause wrinkles on the face called “sleep lines.” Try sleeping on your back to avoid pressing the same side of your face against the pillow every night.

MYTH: It’s better to let your skin breathe at night by avoiding the use of night cream

FALSE: Cleansing and moisturizing your skin at night is essential to get rid of the day’s dirt and grime and protect against any environmental damage. A night cream is essential for hydrating and protecting your skin while you sleep, especially during the winter months when heat can dry out your skin.

MYTH: You’ll eventually outgrow acne

FALSE: Women’s hormone levels fluctuate throughout their lifetime, which explains why women breakout more often around their menstrual cycle. Even if you had clear skin as a teenager, you can still suffer from breakouts at any point!

What skincare myths have you heard recently?

Are You BB Buying It? Wed, 06 Feb 2013 16:03:08 +0000 Sarah McNamara Continue reading ]]>

With all of the craze about BB creams and CC creams on the rise, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype. When people ask me if Miracle Skin Transformer Face SPF 20 is a BB Cream my response is always.. Miracle Skin Transformer is better than a BB.

In my opinion, the whole BB Cream \ CC Cream phase is all sort of gimmicky. It’s all everyone is talking about, yet most people are confused about what a BB\CC cream does.

Beauty or blemish balms started among Korean and Japanese women for their multi-purpose and anti-shine benefits. BB creams are meant to hydrate, even out skin tone, protect with SPF, control oiliness and provide anti-aging benefits. Color control creams are used to help brighten and color correct the skin, while providing slightly heavier coverage than a BB cream. The problem with all these BB and CC creams is that not all of these creams have the same benefits. Some brands contain SPF, some don’t. Some are supposed to control oiliness, and some are not. The list goes on and on. This makes it hard to figure out what brand or type of BB/CC cream is best for YOUR skin type.

At Miracle Skin Transformer we want to simplify beauty, not complicate it. Our product is different than a BB cream for many reasons. Most BB creams are water-based. Water-based products can appear chalky and even dry out the skin. Miracle Skin Transformer Face SPF 20 is a 5-in-1 skin enhancer and it’s in a category of its own. It hydrates, primes, enhances, mattifies and protects your skin. It comes in 7 different shades, whereas BB creams are normally categorized by skin types. Not to mention, Miracle Skin Transformer Face SPF 20 has that buildable coverage for times when you need it.

Are you buying into this whole BB and CC cream phase?

Things I Love: Soul Cycle Tue, 29 Jan 2013 09:00:39 +0000 Sarah McNamara Continue reading ]]> Hi Darlings,

To continue with my New Year fitness resolution I took my team to one of my favorite work out classes in New York – Soul Cycle. For anyone who hasn’t heard of Soul Cycle, it is an indoor cycling gym where soul instructors provide an intense full-body workout. The instructors not only help you burn calories, but they help you tone your core and upper body by using hand weights. How do they do it? Soul instructors combine inspirational coaching with high-energy music. Trust me, once you try it – you’re hooked! Since I always rave about the classes and facilities, my team was so excited (and a little nervous) to get out of the office and try a class.

The results? See for yourself!

In case of disaster… use false lashes Fri, 11 Jan 2013 08:18:00 +0000 Sarah McNamara Continue reading ]]>

Hello Darlings,

I’m so excited to be back in the office with my team after my long trip. My brand coordinator, Christine, told me about a very frightening beauty mishap that she had experienced while I was away. She accidently pulled out a cluster of eye lashes while using an eyelash curler! Since then she has been wearing false eye lashes every day. Whether you’re in desperate need of some extra lashes or just want longer, more voluminous lashes – here’s a how to:

Step 1: Pick out the type of eyelashes that are right for you. There are full sets or individual clusters that you can choose from. You can find false eyelashes at any beauty or drug store (FYI Sephora has a fabulous selection if you’re feeling daring). If you choose a full set, make sure that they match the length of your own eye lashes. If not, you can trim them to your desired length.

Step 2: First, start with clean lashes that are free of any makeup. If you are using a full set of eye lashes, apply a thin layer of glue along the base of the lashes using a thin makeup brush. If you are using individual lashes, put a few drops of glue on a hard surface. With a set of tweezers – pick up the eyelashes and dip the root into glue.

Step 3: When applying a strip – use your fingers to hold the lashes and place them as close to the roots as possible. Hold them down for a few seconds to allow the glue to dry. When applying individual eyelashes, start from the outer corners of your eyes and apply the individual set into your natural lashes. Hold down for a few seconds to allow for drying.

Step 4: Gently use an eyelash curler to enhance the look of your new lashes. Be sure that the glue is fully dry before doing this to avoid pulling off the false set.

Step 5: Apply mascara so your real eyelashes match your set of false eyelashes. Apply a liquid or pencil eyeliner over the lash roots to conceal any gaps between the false lashes and your natural ones.

Do any of you have any fun/frightening lash stories? I would love to hear!

Get the perfect New Year’s Eve Look with Miracle Skin Transformer Mon, 31 Dec 2012 15:59:53 +0000 Sarah McNamara Continue reading ]]>

Hi Darlings,

With New Year’s Eve approaching quickly I know many of you are probably scrambling to find your perfect New Year’s Eve style. Miracle Skin Transformer products can help transform any day look into your perfect night out one. Check out the steps below to learn how you can complete your perfect New Year’s Eve look in less than 15 minutes!

Step 1: Mix Miracle Skin Transformer Face SPF 20 with Miracle Skin Transformer Treat & Conceal to give yourself a little extra coverage to conceal any fine lines, wrinkles, darkness, or redness. Apply a little extra treat & conceal under the eyes and over any blemishes. Dab on a dime sized amount of Vanish Imperfection Corrector, which contains optical diffusers, to help enhance your skin and give you that airbrushed effect that will last all night long.

Step 2: Prep your eyelashes and eye brows for a defined and lasting look by applying a small amount Heal Everything Balm onto your eyebrows and eye lashes. You can also apply Heal Everything Balm to the lid area to use as a primer before putting on your eye shadow. Then apply your favorite mascara, eye liner, and eye shadow to create your ideal smoky eye.

Step 3: Feeling washed out? Apply Miracle Skin Transformer Face SPF 20 in two shades darker than your normal shade on the apples of your cheeks to achieve that bronzed sun-kissed look.

Step 3: Add a little color to the lips by applying Miracle Skin Transformer Lip Rewind Advanced Peptide Lip Treatment Broad Spectrum SPF20 in the shade Berry for a pop of color and a lasting lip treatment. To enhance the color apply a lip liner first.

Step 4: Last, apply Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 in the shade bronze to give your winter skin that much needed glow.

What are you doing this New Year’s Eve? I would love to know!

Happy Holidays, Darlings Fri, 21 Dec 2012 15:35:12 +0000 Sarah McNamara Continue reading ]]>

Hello Darlings,

Things I Love: Shawn Warren Jewelry Tue, 18 Dec 2012 14:58:00 +0000 Sarah McNamara Continue reading ]]> Hi Darlings,

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season! If you’re as busy as I am with shopping for gifts, traveling for work and keeping up with family (which I can imagine you all are), then finding the perfect outfit for holiday parties can be quite the task. No matter what outfit you wind up deciding wear, old or new, the key to pulling together any holiday outfit is to accessorize. A little black dress can be glammed-up instantly with the right kind of jewelry.

One of my favorite holiday tricks is to add a pop of color to any outfit. Royal blue, red, and kelly green are all colors that are hot this season and will instantly make you stand out. If you’re looking to spend less on your holiday outfits, then try looking for beautiful pieces that are versatile. For instance, I am obsessed with Shawn Warren Jewelry because all her gorgeous one of kind pieces can be worn with either a day or night look. Not to mention, all her pieces are custom handmade designs and she donates 10 percent of all sales to inner city children, cancer and animal-related charities!

Check out some of her designs on Pinterest or visit her website to view her holidaycollection.

What are some of your favorite holiday accessories?

xx Sara
